Fees

Fees for Video/Telephone-based Counselling and Psychotherapy

  • Initial 15 minute Video/Phone consultation and registration – free
  • Video/Telephone therapy sessions (1 hour) – £60
  • Please note: If you have been referred via the NCFED  and I am conducting a comprehensive NCFED – based assessment, the initial session will be £65 as arranged by NCFED. The session fees will be at my usual fee of £60 thereafter and request that they are paid directly to me one week in advance.

If you have not been referred by NCFED, payment for the first session can be made on the day. Thereafter, video consultations or telephone therapy sessions are payable at least one week in advance (i.e. at the end of each session) and I will need to receive this before you can assume that your next session is booked. You might find it more convenient to pay/book video/telephone counselling in blocks of six and be refunded for advance bookings should therapy terminate earlier than expected.

Fees will be negotiated during your initial telephone discussion or during your assessment session, along with an agreement of how you are going to pay (i.e. by bank transfer or Paypal). If your therapy payments are being met by a third party, private medical insurance, employer, relative, health authority etc. these will be discussed.

Reasonable notice of at least a week must be given for termination of therapy. Any fees paid in advance (except discounted bundles for email counselling – see below) will be reimbursed with sufficient notice. Notably, fees are subject to annual review and non payment of fees may result in legal action being taken.

Fees for Email Counselling:

  • Free initial admin email exchange to organise sessions
  • Free review of initial questionnaire and assessment of suitability
  • Full Session Price for Email Counselling (pay-as-you-go) £55

Payment can be through direct transfer to my business account (preferred) or credit/debit card through paypal. Please request details for these when you are ready.

My Email Counselling is heavily discounted and you can save up to 25% off with discount bundles. Please note however that discount bundles, once purchased are non-refundable and are valid for limited periods. This is to encourage regular sessions and due to me needing to protect your client time (by potentially turning away other new clients).

Lastly, please note that Email Counselling sessions are charged per 1000 words. If you submit 1001 – 2000 words, I kindly ask that you ensure you have paid for 2 email counselling sessions.

How do I justify charging the above amounts?

I am a fully qualified and registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist with extensive experience (over 20 years) working in Mental Health; including 10 years post qualifying experience privately, within the third sector and within NHS Specialist services.

In video and telephone counselling, I have overheads of phone and internet use, CPD, supervision and insurance. Use of my time includes not only the 1 hour session itself but also preparation and admin time. These fees are also comparable to other specialist NCFED Network therapists and non-specialist therapists alike.

Regarding Email Counselling, the above fee accounts for 1 hour of my time (and often more) that I dedicate to carefully reading, reflecting and thoughtfully responding to your email. I may also spend time and money reflecting on our work together in supervision and attend conferences and CPD which contribute to my effectiveness as a therapist so I am able to support you ethically and successfully.

Cancelled or Missed sessions

Counselling means a commitment from us both, your part being to make sure you can attend any sessions booked. I appreciate that occasionally unavoidable circumstances do arise which may require you to cancel a video/telephone session. In such a case, I would ask that you inform me as soon as possible and give me at least 24 hours notice in order to cancel a session without payment. If you cancel at late notice (up to one hour before your session), I will ask for £35 to cover my cancellation fee. However – all missed or forgotten appointments will be payable at the usual fee of £60. This very reasonable system is in place so that I can offer a consistent, efficient and professional service.

If you do give me sufficient notice, I will aim to offer you an alternate session time during the same week if I have a spare slot. Notably a pattern of missed sessions will also prompt a review being brought forward to discuss any difficulties and your commitment to therapy.

If in exceptional circumstances I have to cancel one of our sessions, I would give you as much notice as possible and will try to offer you an alternative appointment. If you are receiving Email Counselling, I may occasionally need to postpone my response to you and would inform you of this ASAP and extend the expiry of any discount bundles accordingly.

If a holiday (either yours or mine) occurs during the time we are working together, I would like us to both take responsibility for giving at least 2 weeks prior notice of it.

My terms and conditions are subject to annual review.
